Year 5 took part in a World War 2 Day yesterday
As a round up of their Spring 2 project, 'Letters From the Lighthouse', Year 5 took part in a World War 2 Day yesterday. We had the opportunity to come in dressed in the style of World War 2 clothing and rose to the challenge beautifully.
We learnt different games that the children would have played like hopscotch, different skipping skills and jacks. We also learnt some songs that would have cheered the spirits of the nation in World War 2, 'It's a long wat to Tipperary' , We'll meet again' and 'Pack up your troubles'. Our singing was beautiful!
We also had a food tasting session where we tasted the home- learning that had been made, following World War 2 recipes, being mindful of availability and rationing. The Year 5 adults were amazed at all the different food that had been created!
We have really enjoyed this project, reading 'Letters from the Lighthouse' by Emma Carroll and learning about Wrld War 2 in order to support our learning
